 Introduction 


  • India is a huge producer of various spices from more than 40 plus types out of 80 types. Spices are not only the source of taste maker but it also contains a good source of vitamins, minerals and iron, calcium and many more nutrients and antioxidants. 
  • India is called as the Spice Bowl of the world. As Indian kitchen enjoys the glory of various spices even today.
  • India is known as the land of spices because the spices produced in India came from diverse areas of country i.e. tropical forests, highlands, mountain, varied soils and valleys. Indian uses the spices as per their geography of their region.
  • Today the Indian spices industries has a great reputation in the world.
  • The most common spices used in Indian kitchens are as follows:
  1. Garam masala
  2. Turmeric
  3. Coriander
  4. Ginger
  5. Cumin
  6. Cardamom
  7. Nutmeg
  8. Fenugreek
  9. Mustard seeds
  10. Black pepper 

                      Turmeric 

Turmeric is a product of  Curcuma longa, which is the native to tropical South Asia. It is basically a dietary supplement for a variety of conditions including respiratory infection, allergies, depression and etc. Turmeric consits in both forms solid and powder. It consists of yellow colour due to presence of Curcuma. Turmeric gives yellow colour to the food. It is also uses as the antioxidants and remedies to various disease and skin care. Due to the presence of Curcuma it may reduce inflammation in the body.

                                      Ginger


Ginger is a zesty spices used in many Indian cuisine. It can prevent in powdered or as a fresh root. Ginger has been used as a traditional remedy to treat stomach ache, headache, cough and cold and various infection. It also reduces the risk of cancer. Ginger is used in cosmetic products and  food and drinks . Ginger was the first spices come to Europe from Asia. It was used by ancient Greeks and Romans.


Clove


Cloves are the unopened flower of the clove tree. Its evergreen natives are Indonesia and India that grows about 8 to 12 meter in height. The English name of clove derives from Latin clavus that means nail. It is known for great taste maker to food and a good preservative. It is also used as in cosmetics, toothpaste and as an antioxidant and home remedies. It helps to reduce ulcers and improve liver function and it's the good remedy for toothache, cough and throat infection.
